Marc Throndson, President

A senior from New Hampton, Iowa, Marc is an Agricultural Business major with a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. This past summer he interned with Bunge North America as a merchandising trainee intern and will be spending this upcoming summer with Renewable Energy Group as a Risk Management intern. Having served with two officer teams for the club Marc has found some of his closest friends at Iowa State. He can typically be found watching the Cyclones, or spending way too much money following them across the country. An interesting fact about Marc is as of May 2017 he will be an uncle of ten nieces and nephews.

Brandon Klaes, Vice President

Brandon is a senior from a family farm near Riceville, Iowa.  During his time at Iowa State, he has enjoyed serving as a club officer the past two years, as well as being a member of the Ag Marketing and Management Organization.  Brandon has especially enjoyed meeting members of the club and building relationships to make the large club feel smaller.  This past summer, Brandon interned with Flint Hills Resources as a merchandising intern working with the marketing of their DDGS.  He is looking forward to another summer with Flint Hills, experiencing another side of their company.  In his free time, Brandon enjoys sleeping and procrastinating. The greatest feeling Brandon has ever felt is coming home after a hard day of class to a crock pot full of pork chops and potatoes.

Allison Bastian, Secretary

Allison is a senior majoring in Agricultural Business and receiving her Leadership Studies certificate. She was born and raised on a hog and crop farm in New Ulm, MN. This is her second year serving as a club officer and enjoys the networking opportunities the club provides its’ members. She has been fortunate enough to work for a few of the club’s sponsors including AgStar Financial Services as a Crop Insurance intern, Farm Credit Services of America as a Financial Sales intern, and this summer she will be in St. Paul, MN at AgriBank as an Agricultural Credit intern. She looks forward to graduating in December of 2017, but appreciates all of the experiences, knowledge, and friends she has gained in college.

Craig Welter, Treasurer

A senior majoring in Agricultural Business with minors in Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology, and Entrepreneurial Studies, Craig was raised on a diversified crop and livestock farm outside of Monticello, Iowa. This is Craig’s second go-around on the officer team, as he served as co-historian last year, and he looks forward to the opportunity to take on a new role and meet new members this year. Over the past two summers, Craig has worked as a Crop Scout Intern for Innovative Ag Services and as an Agronomy Sales Intern for Landus Cooperative. This summer, he will be interning as a farm management intern with Hertz Farm Management in Nevada, IA. An avid sports fan, Craig captured his first fantasy football league championship in 6 seasons last fall.

Izak Christensen, Special CALS Representative

Izak is in his fourth year at Iowa State with majors in agricultural business and agronomy.  This is his second year on the ISU Agricultural Business Club officer team.  He is the current treasurer for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Council, which explains the non-traditional officer title.  Izak is originally from a diversified crop and livestock farm near Riceville, Iowa.  Izak’s past internships have included commodity merchandising and agrochemical sales.  This coming summer, he will be interning with Renewable Energy Group in procurement.  Outside of school, work, and extracurriculars, Izak enjoys social events with friends, golf, and traveling.

Hanna Mendenhall, Sr. CALS Representative

From Garden Grove, Iowa, Hanna Mendenhall is a junior majoring in Agricultural Business. Hanna has served as an officer of the Agricultural Business Club for two years now. During the summer of 2016 she had the opportunity to intern with AgriGold Hybrids as a Sales and Agronomy intern, based out of North Central Missouri and South Central Iowa. Summer is just around the corner and Hanna is still in search for an internship. Hanna’s biggest fear is smelling bad, so she has a collection of over 70 lotions and perfumes.

Tyler Geiger, Junior CALS Representative

A sophomore from Deep River, Iowa, Tyler is majoring in Agricultural Business. He will be spending the summer of 2017 with Key Cooperative at their Grinnell location working as a Agronomy Sales Intern. Tyler is excited to be a part of the club’s executive team and CALS council because he loves meeting new people and making connections. In his free time, Tyler enjoys singing and playing guitar.

Reed Burres, Reporter

A senior from Humboldt, Iowa, Reed is an Agricultural Business and International Agriculture major. During his time at Iowa State, Reed has served as President of Beta Sigma Psi and is currently serving as a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Ambassador. This past summer he with an agricultural start-up company called AgriSync. Over this past spring break he participated in the Agricultural Business study abroad program to Australia. With what little free time he has between classes and helping out on the family farm, Reed enjoys bowhunting and has harvested 12 different species of North American big game with bow and arrow.

 Celeste Swanson, Reporter

Celeste is a junior from Galt, Iowa majoring in Agricultural Business and plans to pursue a triple major in Economics and International Agriculture as well as minor in Statistics. This is Celeste’s first year serving on the executive team and she is excited to help continue the legacy the Agricultural Business Club has already created. Last summer, Celeste interned for MaxYield Cooperative in the grain accounting and corporate finance division. She is looking forward to the upcoming summer as she will be working for CoBank in Omaha, Nebraska as a Credit Analysis Intern. Celeste loves to travel and has already crossed seven countries off her list in Europe.

 Catherine Isley, Historian

Catherine is a senior Agricultural Business major from Cedar Falls, Iowa. She has interned with Peoples Company in land management & rural real estate, and she is currently interning with Ames-based AgSolver. She will be spending this summer in the Des Moines area, working with DuPont Pioneer in marketing. This is her first year on the Agricultural Business Club executive team-- she’s looking forward to serving club members alongside the other 10 outstanding officers. In her spare time, you can find Catherine traveling, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with friends.

 Mariah Gansen, Historian

Mariah is a junior majoring in Agricultural Business, from Peosta, Iowa. Mariah is excited to be a new member The Agricultural Business Club officer team and looks forward to taking advantage of all the opportunities the club has to offer. Last summer, Mariah headed back to her hometown of Peosta to work on a local robotic dairy farm and serve as Dubuque County Fair Queen. This summer, Mariah is still in search for an internship, but is very optimistic about acquiring one. When Mariah is back home, one thing she enjoys to do in her free time, is to participate in a line dancing event every Wednesday night at her local fair grounds.
